For more than 275 years, Fort McClary protected the entrance to the Piscataqua River at the gateway to Kittery, Maine. The fort was named after Major McClary who fought and died in the Revolutionay War at the Battle of Bunker Hill. It is one of the state's mos important historic forts. The site was manned during five wars; The Revolutionary, War of 1812, Civil, Spanish-American, and World War 1. It did not see much action. Picnic tables are available. Moderate Fee
