Ravenswood Park is maintained by The Trustees and is not a state or national park. There are 10 miles of trails and former carriage roads within the park; dog walking is allowed, but must be leashed in the parking area. Wonderful opportunities for Bird-Watching, Cross-Country Skiing/Snowshoe, Hiking, Nature Study, Picnicking and Scenic Views. Mountain biking is allowed, but only on designated trails, from May 1st through Feb. 28th. There are no facilities in the park although there is a staff with a superintendent on site year-round with various hours. The natural features of the park are fields of glacial erractics or boulders providing you with a glimpse of the last glacial retreat. Woodlands include red oak, white pine, paper birch, and maple. Shrubs include huckleberry, low-bush blueberry, mountain laurel, arrowroot, and witch hazel. Wildflowers are abundant and include pink lady's slipper, bluebead lily, trailing arbutus, and colonies of ferns.
