Singing Beach

Singing Beach

295 Beach Street
Manchester, MA 01944

A wonderful beach, known for the unique fact that the sand "sings" (actually it's more like a squeak) as you scuff your feet across the sand. It is said to be one of the few beaches in the world where this occurs.
This very popular beach has limited access because of the parking. There is a small lot which is restricted to resident parking in season. Parking in town is very limited, but there may be a lot operated by the Boy Scouts near the train station of you arrive early enough. The best way to get to this beach is by train, from Cape Ann or Boston. It is a very pleasant walk of about a half mile, with a great ice cream stand on the way, and a very pleasant town village just beyond the train station, with interesting shops and casual or fine restaurant. The beach also has a snack bar and lifeguards in season.
