The nearby shops and restaurants complement the Alpine and cross country skiing nicely. Ski Butternut, also known as Butternut Basin, offers skiing and snowboarding on 22 trails with 2 terrain parks open to both skiers & snowboarders, plus an 8km cross country center that also offers rentals and lessons. It's regarded by many as the ideal place to learn to ski or snowboard because of its gentle beginner terrain and outstanding ski school. Butternut is also known for the quality snowmaking, accentuated by impeccable grooming.
