The permanent collection of the Cape Ann Museum includes works by renowned 19th and 20th century painters and sculptors who lived or worked on Cape Ann, including Fitz Henry Lane, Stuart Davis, Milton Avery, Mardsen Hartley, Cecilia Beaux, Paul Manship and Walker Hancock; textiles by the Gloucester-based Folly Cove Designers; objects, art, and artifacts relating to the history of maritime trade, and the fishing and granite quarrying industries of Cape Ann; decorative arts including Paul Revere silver, 18th and 19th century American furniture, and objects obtained in trade with the Far East. Two historic houses are also part of the collection: a furnished Captain’s House from 1804, attached to the Museum proper and the 1710 White-Ellery House located at the Grant Circle rotary off Rte. 128.
